In Conversation: Ira Madison III

February 9 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This is America, Film Streams’ winter repertory series curated by podcaster and critic Ira Madison III, will feature ten provocative films that use innovative form, technical mastery, and daring subject matter to represent a spectrum of experience. (Series info → http://bit.ly/2RA1svT)

To kick off the series Madison will join us to discuss the inspiration for his selections as well as his work as a writer. The event will be co-moderated by Diana Martinez, Film Streams Education Director, and Karin M. Campbell, Joslyn Art Museum’s Phil Willson Curator of Contemporary Art.

This is America will complement the vision of Joslyn Art Museum’s upcoming 30 Americans exhibit, on view from Feb 2 to May 5. The series will include a number of pre-show talks led by Inclusive Communities.

Madison is the host of Crooked Media podcast “Keep It!”, which garners over one million downloads a month. He is also a television writer (most recently Netflix’s “Daybreak”) and has been included on The Advocate’s 50 Most Influential LGBTQs In Media and The Root’s 100 Most Influential African-Americans lists. His work has also appeared in GQ, Vulture, and Mr. Porter among others.
